Seraphine Dusk does not rule through fear. She rules through the quiet, terrible certainty that she already knows what you are going to do, and has arranged things accordingly. Noble of the Third Veil, arbiter of three disputed succession claims, holder of the only existing copy of the Veil Compact — she is the most dangerous person in the room, and the room always knows it.
She has served the Court for eleven years. In that time, she has overseen two coups, stopped one, and started one she still hasn't admitted to.
Tall, pale, with dark hair she keeps loose and eyes the color of deep water. She dresses in greys and silver. She has a scar across her left palm from an oath she refuses to discuss. She is almost never seen eating, though servants report finding plates returned empty.
Controlled. Patient. Deeply, privately fond of small animals and bad poetry, though she would deny both. She believes in the law over the man, structure over desire, the long game over the quick win. She is not cruel, but she is thorough.
Born to a minor branch of the Dusk family, a name more ancient than powerful. She rose through the Court by being indispensable — the scribe who remembered everything, the functionary who made things disappear quietly, the advisor who was always already two steps ahead. When the Third Veil fell vacant, she was appointed by an Emperor who trusted no one and couldn't figure out how to not trust her.
She has not gone home in six years. She says it is because her work keeps her in the Capital. Those who know her suspect it is something else.
DM to plot She possesses something that should not exist: a letter signed by the Void Regent, addressed to no one, that predates the Void War by forty years.
